Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) is an ultrasonic technique that offers many advantages compared to conventional ultrasonic testing methods. PAUT is a fully code-compliant ultrasonic testing method developed to accurately, efficiently, and comprehensively test welds and materials in various industrial sectors in lieu of radiographic testing (RT) and other conventional ultrasonic techniques. Harnessing off the shelf phased array equipment, patented techniques, rigorous training methods, and our experienced procedure building capacity, Bureau Veritas is able to offer testing services to varied industrial sectors. Defects can be marked for repair immediately following examination without the loss of onsite production. Accurate locating and sizing of weld defects also significantly reduces both repair rates and repair excavation sizes. One of the advanced features of Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing is the ability to view the scan in real-time from a remote location. Potentially, any application that can be done with conventional ultrasonic testing can be performed with PAUT, both in manufacturing and in-service inspections.
