Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Support
A good O&M plan is crucial for maintaining successful solar operations. Bureau Veritas (BV) can provide value to your O&M program whether you are managing your own solar assets or employing third party O&M contractors. When asset owners work with third-party operators it can result in a misalignment of goals. And when plant owners oversee their own O&M they don’t always have the time or the expertise to inspect their own projects and ensure that assets are being maintained to industry standards. Both scenarios can result in plant underperformance, shorter than expected equipment life, unnecessary outages, site emergencies such as wildfires, HAZMAT spills, or the worst case, preventable accidents involving site personnel.
BV’s O&M support team provides power plant owners with industry experience and insights to help maximize performance and maintain the longevity of their solar power plant. We help plant owners and third-party operators align their goals by performing a thorough unbiased third-party evaluation of project sites and produce a report with detailed recommendations. Not only does this include an in-depth review of the current state of the asset, but it can be used to assess O&M providers, report to investors/financiers, and support annual insurance reviews and due diligence evaluations.

Tabletop Data Review
BV reviews historical performance data, outage/downtime data, select maintenance records based on outage data, GSU oil sampling records, annual maintenance plan, and spare parts inventory.

Site Inspections
Our team conducts physical site inspections focusing on any issues identified in the tabletop review, and the following equipment: racking, modules, harnesses, combiner box / load break disconnects, inverters, medium voltage transformers, POA & soiling stations, substation and control building inspection, UPS/batteries, safety equipment, HAZMAT storage area, LOTO documentation, wire management, and vegetation management. We will also conduct an aerial thermal inspection of the substation and photovoltaic (PV) field.

Reporting
BV prepares and distributes reports outlining equipment and program findings, remediation recommendations, thermal inspection of the substation, high-level thermal imaging of the PV field, images and estimated DC energy losses. Our O&M team makes recommendations to improve vegetation management, wildfire prevention, safety and environmental findings, and spare parts inventory and strategy. We also conduct a final meeting to review the findings and recommendations.
