Vapor Pressure

Mar. 3 2022

An evaluation of equilibrium times as a function of agitation rate and fluid properties.

The vapor pressure of a fluid system is an essential measurement that is required to ensure that the fluid meets specifications for custody transfer. The measurement of vapor pressure has come into question due to the uncertainty with respect to whether or not the vapor and liquid phases had reached equilibrium at or before the time of measurement. Some of the factors that influence vapor pressure and equilibrium time are: temperature, composition, viscosity/density, sample chamber agitation rate, time, definition of endpoint and method of measurement. This paper will describe fluid samples and testing conducted to define optimum agitation rates and agitation times as a function of the fluids/fluid properties as being tested.
