Bureau Veritas to provide on-site laboratory testing services for Brightmark Energy

NEW YORK, N.Y., (April 14, 2020) –– Bureau Veritas a world-leader in testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) services, today announced it has entered into an agreement with Brightmark Energy to provide on-site laboratory testing services at the newly constructed Brightmark Plastics Renewal Plant in Ashley, IN. Brightmark Energy designs, manufactures, and implements commercial scale energy recovery systems that offer a responsible end-of-life solution for non-recycled waste plastic.

Bureau Veritas will support Brightmark Energy Plastics Renewal Plant during the laboratory design, commissioning, and post-launch operational phases.  The laboratory design and program management experts at Bureau Veritas will work with Brightmark Energy Plastics Renewal Plant’s management, EPC, and construction contractor during the initial laboratory design and commissioning phases to provide a detailed laboratory design and execution plan, including layout of equipment space, electrical requirements, HVAC, waste disposal systems, lab bench layouts, and material selection.  Based on sample types and analysis requirements for parameters of interest, Bureau Veritas will define the instrumentation needed on-site and will utilize the purchasing power of Bureau Veritas to procure required instrumentation on behalf of Brightmark Energy.

Bureau Veritas personnel assigned to Brightmark Energy Plastics Renewal Plant’s laboratory will ensure proper deployment and set-up of all laboratory equipment and establishment of procedures.  Once the laboratory is operational, Bureau Veritas is contracted to provide full-time laboratory personnel to deliver on-site laboratory operations and critical testing required for production support and quality management.  Leveraging its network of strategically located state-of-the-art commodities testing laboratories that service the oil and petrochemical market, Bureau Veritas will also complete off-site sample analysis to support Brightmark Energy Plastics Renewal Plant’s on-site laboratory operations.  This process optimization is expected to reduce Brightmark Energy’s capital equipment expenditure by 40% and the on-site laboratory personnel needed for routine operations by 30%.

“We are on a mission to create significant long-term value and a positive global impact by delivering waste and energy solutions,” said Jay Schabel, President, Brightmark Plastics Division. “We chose Bureau Veritas as our testing and inspections partner because of their experience in designing and operating test labs in the petroleum industry. As we continue to grow, we look forward to partnering with BV to support our on-site and off-site laboratory testing.”

“Laboratories are among the most complex, regulated and expensive building types, so their operations require specialized and demonstrated knowledge that is best served by laboratory experts,” said Remy Piazza, Chief Sales Officer, Bureau Veritas, North America.  “On-site laboratory operations and laboratory outsourcing is one of our strategic service offerings at Bureau Veritas. We look forward to delivering on our mission to shape a world of trust and enabling the Brightmark Energy Plastics Renewal Plant to achieve the highest quality standards possible through our laboratory design, protocol and testing services.”

Supported by its operational, technical, and HSQE team, Bureau Veritas assures best practices are in place and the highest safety and quality standard will be available to Brightmark Energy Plastics Renewal Plant.
