Bureau Veritas is a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). As an NRTL, we have a scope of standards that we are allowed to evaluate products under based on third party auditing of our quality system and laboratory. An NRTL mark demonstrates that a client’s product has been tested by Bureau Veritas and that it is under our follow-up program to ensure continued compliance.

The Bureau Veritas Littleton lab is a Certification Body Test Laboratory (CBTL), authorized to certify products to the CB scheme for any standard within the lab’s scope. Bureau Veritas has many IEC and ISO standards under its accreditation serving variety of standards including but not limited to MED, MEAS, ITAV, MISC, OFF categories.

The CB scheme is an audited process that promotes uniformity in testing and reporting. CB testing can only be performed by qualified CB engineers/labs with CB approved equipment. CB scheme reports are universally accepted. However, certain countries have their own deviations to specific standards that need to be considered.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) launched the Accreditation Scheme for Conformity Assessment (ASCA) program to help medical device manufacturers fast-track pre-market submissions and decrease the need for additional information related to conformance with standards.  

The Bureau Veritas Littleton lab is an ASCA-accredited testing lab capable of conducting testing to many of the accepted FDA consensus standards for Medical Safety (60601 and 80601 series), Medical EMC (60601-1-2), and Laboratory Safety (61010-1).

Including a declaration of conformity with an ASCA Summary Test Report as part of your premarket submission provides confidence in the quality and completeness of your 510(k) submissions.

Bureau Veritas provides certification services for the Energy Star and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) programs.

Energy Star Certification:
Bureau Veritas is an approved Energy Star certification body, authorized to verify and certify products that meet the Energy Star energy efficiency requirements. The Energy Star program is a voluntary labeling initiative led by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. It identifies and promotes energy-efficient products. Bureau Veritas can certify a wide range of products, such as appliances, electronics, lighting, and building materials, to the Energy Star standard. The certification process involves testing products to verify their energy performance and ensuring they meet the Energy Star technical specifications.

NRCan Certification:
Bureau Veritas is also accredited by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to provide certification services for various energy efficiency programs. NRCan is the federal government department responsible for natural resources, energy, minerals, and forestry in Canada. Bureau Veritas can certify products, equipment, and buildings to NRCan's energy efficiency standards, such as the EnerGuide and ENERGY STAR for Industry programs.
