  • Ambient Air Monitoring

Bureau Veritas provides support for long or short-term ambient air monitoring projects

Bureau Veritas offers onsite ambient air monitoring services across Canada ranging from trailer and equipment rental to maintenance, repair, calibration, and auditing along with operations, maintenance and reporting services for industrial operations and air sheds. Our fleet of stations is equipped to measure fixed gases, meteorological parameters, combustion gases, volatile organics, particulates, and hydrocarbons.

We serve the pulp and paper, oil and gas, and petrochemical industries, and operate at municipal landfills and in regional Airshed monitoring programs.

Our state-of-the-art data system includes data loggers, cell modems, and Bureau Veritas Environmental Data Acquisition Software.

  • Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR)

The Bureau Veritas LDAR program is developed in accordance with all provincial and federal regulations, including AER Directive 060, AER Directive 084, BC Oil & Gas Commission guidelines, and the Regulations Respecting Reduction in the Release of Methane and Certain Volatile Organic Compounds (Upstream Oil and Gas Sector) (SOR/2018-66).

Bureau Veritas offers leak detection and repair services, data management and staff training. We offer monitoring solutions for emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and volatile hazardous pollutants (VHAPs) leaking from industrial manufacturing, transportation and distribution processes. Our team of professional, trained technical experts is able to efficiently identify the exact sources of emissions in a cost effective manner using optical gas imaging and toxic vapour analyzers.

     Our services include:

    • Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) programs
    • Smart LDAR: OGI, Quantitative OGI, TVA
    • Advanced LDAR inventory maintenance
    • Fugitive emission monitoring
    • Digital P&ID solutions
    • Advanced monitoring & sampling solutions
    •  Database management solutions
  • Passive Air Sampling

    Concerned about air quality?

If so, our All-Season Passive Air Sampling System (PASS) units are compact, portable, low maintenance and offer an inexpensive, easy-to-use way to monitor for trace levels of atmospheric pollutants in ambient air. The PASS units are ideal for remote and rural locations – they require no electricity, perform under extreme weather conditions, and can be shipped anywhere in the world. We test the returned samplers for multiple contaminants, including SO2, H2S, O3, NO2, NOX, NH3, 1, 3 -Butadiene and VOCs (Includes BTEX).

Bureau Veritas is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to ISO/IEC 17025 for tests and matrices required for passive air analysis. Our Passive Air Monitoring group in Edmonton supports petroleum refineries, upgraders and petrochemical facilities with the strict testing, supply, and sampling schedule required by EPA 325AEPA325B.

Regulations Respecting Reduction in the Release of Volatile Organic Compounds (Petroleum Sector). These regulations would reduce releases of volatile organic compounds from petroleum refineries, upgraders and certain petrochemical facilities in Canada. The proposed regulations were published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, on May 27, 2017. The proposed regulations, along with the accompanying Regulatory Impact Analysis Statement and other supporting documents, are available here.

  • SOURCE EMISSION MONITORING

We can adapt our services to meet the testing requirements for a broad range of industries

Bureau Veritas has unparalleled experience in conducting continuous emission monitoring, manual stack surveys, relative accuracy test audits (RATA), cylinder gas audits (CGA) and specialty test programs at industrial sites across Canada. We are the only air services laboratory in Canada accredited by the SCC offering source emissions surveys for ammonia, benzene, formaldehyde, methanol, mercury, metals, particulates, PM10/2.5, SVOCs, THC, and various other compounds of interest.

Bureau Veritas is the Canadian leader in RATA of continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS) for vapour phase mercury using carbon sorbent traps. Our Ohio Lumex™ mercury analyzer is capable of completing field analysis according to EPA Method 30B. Our mercury analysts are certified by Ohio Lumex™ to EPA standards.  Our RATA and CGA testing include: CO, CO2, NOx, O2, SO2, THC, flows and temperature.
