Forensic Equine Drug Testing (FEDT)

Bureau Veritas Is Internationally Known For Equine Drug Testing Expertise

Our Equine Drug Testing Department (FEDT) was established in 1969 and is known internationally for its expertise in drug detection, confirmation, and research. We are accredited by the Standards Council of Canada, under the requirements and Guidance for the Accreditation for Forensic Testing Laboratories, and work closely with the Association of Official Racing Chemists (AORC).

Along with testing urine and blood samples for prohibited drugs and/or metabolites, Bureau Veritas FEDT undertakes research projects involving method development for new drugs, method transfer, drug metabolism studies, and analysis of equine urine and blood, to produce data for elimination studies.

  • Additional Drug testing

The FEDT laboratory provides drug-screening services to the food industry, dietary/herbal/nutrition producers and for concerned consumers/users. If you require the analysis of a drug in a particular matrix, contact us. Analyses can be performed qualitatively or quantitatively. Quantitative analyses may require method development and method validation before test sample analysis.

The laboratory offers the following adjunct drug testing services to our clients:

    • Detection and identification of single or multiple drugs in a variety of matrices: pills, liquids, animal feed, food, nutraceutical or herbal supplements, oils, milk or cream.
    • Drug potency and purity (semi-quantitative or quantitative analysis)

    • Drug paraphernalia (needles, syringes, vials, etc.)
    • Swab testing for amphetamines and opiates – kits are available upon request.
    • Drug screening in livestock or pets
